Singers' Session The Singers' Sessions are held at Guthries in the Irish Harp Room, Prospect Town Hall, 126 Prospect Road, PROSPECT, ADELAIDE, South Australia, on the second Sunday of each month, 5 - 9 pm. It is open to the public and all are welcome. The idea of the Singers' Sessions was conceived by David and Jenni Wahlheim. They wanted to create an environment where singers of all genres could come and perform in front of an appreciative audience. The first session was held in June 2003 at the South Australian Folk Centre. Most of the sessions take the form of a sing around, with performers accompanying themselves on guitar. However there is a piano for any performer who wishes to use it, and there is any number of willing guitarists who are happy to accompany would-be soloists. A number of performers prefer a cappella. There is a minimal charge. We ask that you make a "gold coin" donation ($1 or $2) to the South Australian Folk Federation when you arrive, or for $5 we will provide pizza for dinner and any money left over will go the Folk Federation. The Singers' Sessions seek to create an environment where singers of all ages and experience can perform to a supportive and appreciative audience. We welcome all Singers; from professionals to those making their first tentative steps and singing in public for the first time. Songs are welcome from all genres, cultures and languages, a capella or accompanied. The music is not restricted to folk. We have enjoyed singer songwriters performing their own work, music from the 1900's stage shows, through to excerpts of Gilbert and Sullivan etc. If you would like to join us, just arrive on the night and you will be most welcome. There are no tickets or bookings required. If you accompany yourself on an acoustic instrument bring it along too if you wish.
